Priority Communities and Event Support

Help create active communities and deliver unforgettable events across Southland.

At Active Southland, our vision is Everyone Active Every Day. We connect, enable and support Southlanders to live more active lives and we're looking for an energetic and community-focused person to join our team in a fixed-term role as our Priority Communities & Events Support

This is a unique opportunity to combine community development with hands-on event delivery. You'll play an important role supporting some of Southland's best-loved events, including Mitre 10 Mega Invercargill Tough Kid, Wensley's Cycles Surf to City and the ILT Southland Sports Awards, while also helping communities across Southland and Gore increase participation in play, active recreation and sport.

Working alongside community groups, schools, clubs, councils and other partners, you'll help build capability, support local initiatives, connect organisations with funding opportunities and contribute to projects that reduce barriers to participation. You'll also assist with event planning, supplier coordination, community activations and insights gathering.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about the role physical activity plays in community wellbeing.
  • Builds strong relationships and communicates confidently with a wide range of people.
  • Is organised, self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Brings a practical, solutions-focused approach to their work.

If you want to make a difference and want to help create more active, connected communities across Southland, we'd love to hear from you.
